OUR STORY

Empowering Rwanda was an idea that was conceived through Mercer on Mission.  Mercer on Mission is both an academic and service trip through Mercer University.  Mercer partners with a non-profit called MindLeaps.  The university sends undergraduate and Masters students to Rwanda for 2 weeks to help survivors of the 1994 genocide establish business skills, while helping them to create a marketing plan to help their businesses flourish.

Empowering Rwanda has been created as an outlet for Rwandan tailors to expand their businesses and increase their income.  Their businesses only extend to their own villages and the competition is very high, Empowering Rwanda will allow them to reach new clientele, not to mention support their families.  These business owners make approximately $1000 per year, which keeps them afloat.

With Empowering Rwanda we hope to bring their fashion and hard work to the United States.  Empowering Rwanda is here to help put them on the grid.  The women and men who make the products will be receiving 100% of the profits sold.
